The TEXMiN Foundation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to jointly design, test and deploy pilot projects in the mining sector. These will include private 5G networks, internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), drones and digital twins.
TEXMiN is a Technology Translation Research Park (TTRP) established by the Department of Science and Technology at Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad, under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS).
According to the statement, the agreement reflects the national focus on strengthening digital infrastructure and translational research to support industrial growth, particularly in mining operations. Further, the partnership will also support the start-up and innovation ecosystem by offering access to telecom infrastructure, sandbox environments and enterprise customer networks to start-ups incubated or associated with TEXMiN.
