China Unicom has placed an order to buy 40,000 3G smartphones from ZTE Corporation. China Unicom will officially launch its 3G services on September 28, 2009, and has opened 3G business centres in 268 Chinese cities. It plans to expand the service to 335 cities by end-2009.
