According to Gartner, the number of personal computer shipped in Western Europe declined by 20.5 per cent to 12.3 million units in the first quarter of 2013.
All PC segments registered a year-on-year decline during the first three months of 2013. Meanwhile, mobile and desktop PC shipments declined by 24.6 per cent and 13.8 per cent, respectively. Shipments to the professional PC market reduced by 17.2 per cent, while those to the consumer PC market decreased by 23.7 per cent.
In terms of vendors, amongst the top five companies, only Lenovo and Apple registered growth. Lenovo led the pecking order, followed by Acer in second place.
