Thailand-based telecom operator TOT is planning to roll out its 3G service on December 3, 2009, starting from the Bangkok service area. The company plans to roll out 3,800 base stations as part of its nationwide 3G network rollout. Once operational, the majority of the network will be leased on a wholesale basis to private operators. At present, TOT is in the process of screening private companies that wish to resell mobile broadband services over its new network, while it will reserve 20 per cent of its network capacity to provide its own 3G services.
