Harbinger Capital Partners has bought a 25 per cent stake in Wi-Max network operator Augere for $50 million. Augere currently has access to wireless spectrum in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Uganda.
Augere had launched its Wi-Max services in Pakistan in July 2009 under the Qubee brand and had extended this to Bangladesh in early October. The operator plans to use the funds raised through this deal to acquire licences in other Asian and African countries.
