
US-based Telcordia Technologies has stated that it may consider a legal action to protect its mobile number portability (MNP) plans in India if DoT revokes the MNP licence given to its subsidiary, MNP Interconnection. Recently, DoT had served MNP Interconnection a show cause notice, asking it why its licence should not be cancelled, after the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) rejected the company’s proposal citing security concerns due to its operations in Pakistan. But the company had informed the government that it has no operations in Pakistan and was only a telecom software vendor in the country.
