
Tata Communications has reported a 197 per cent increase in its net profits from Rs 360.90 million for the quarter ended December 2013 to Rs 1090.30 million for the quarter ended December 2014. The improvement in its bottom line was due to higher net other income, which increased from 246 million in October-December 2013 to Rs 1,038.1 million in October-December 2014. The company?s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation declined from Rs 2.96 billion for the quarter ended December 2013 to Rs 2.54 billion for the corresponding quarter in 2014,
The company?s revenues declined marginally from Rs 49.90 billion during October-December 2014 to Rs 49.14 billion for the corresponding quarter in 2014. Meanwhile, the company also reported a decline in total expenditure, which reduced from Rs 47 billion in October-December 2013 to Rs 46.59 billion in October-December 2014.
According to the company, the higher data revenues along with growth in its enterprise business, especially managed services, contributed the most to its profits.
During the quarter ended December 2014, Tata Communications launched IZO, a global network program for enhancing hybrid cloud adoption. Also, it launched the mobile local number service (LNS). The LNS service will enable the over-the-top and cloud management companies to open their communication ecosystem to telecom services like voice calls and text messages by assigning dedicated local numbers to their customers in countries of their choice.
