Bharti Airtel is pulling out all the stops to expand its 3G footprint overseas.
To this end, the company?s subsidiary, Airtel Bangladesh has introduced 3G service in Bangladesh. The service is currently available in Dhaka and Chittagong and will be gradually extended to the other parts of the country.
Airtel Bangladesh will offer users 3G services at a minimum download speed of 1 Mbps. As a promotional offer, customers will receive 100 per cent bonus on each subscription of minimum of 1 GB of data usage.
In September 2013, Airtel Bangladesh participated in an auction conducted by the government and won 5 MHz of 3G spectrum for $105 million.
