Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) has announced its financial results for the quarter ending December 31, 2024. The company reported a net loss of Rs 8.36 billion in third quarter (Q3) of financial year (FY25), marginally improving from the Rs 8.39 billion loss recorded in the same quarter of the previous year.

MTNL’s revenue from operations saw an 11.6 per cent year-on-year decline, falling to Rs 1.70 billion from Rs 1.92 billion in Q3 FY24, highlighting persistent challenges in the telecom sector.

The company’s earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) loss expanded to Rs 1.28 billion, compared to Rs 1.25 billion in the corresponding period last year, reflecting continued cost pressures and operational hurdles.

Further, MTNL has been facing prolonged financial difficulties, struggling to keep pace with private telecom operators amid an increasingly competitive market.
