The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) has submitted its comments on the draft Internet of Things (IoT) policy by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY). The comments were submitted as part of the stakeholder views invited by DeitY on its draft policy.
Under these comments, TIA has requested DeitY to consider various aspects such as competitive differentiation and business continuity, careful maintenance of technology and competitive-neutrality.
TIA has recommended DeitY to focus on the development of open, voluntary, and consensus-based global standards that will pave the way for devices to seamlessly connect to each other and to the network in an interoperable manner. Along with this, it has recommended DeitY to rely on the public-private partnership model as an effective tool for collaboration in addressing concerns and solutions. This can serve as a key incentive for businesses to make investments in the IoT, and provide them with the ability to develop despite the risk environment.
