Africa-based telecom operator MTN Nigeria is planning to deploy Ericsson?s wireless packet core network technology to meet consumers? increasing data needs.
MTN Nigeria will use Ericsson?s Smart Services Router (SSR) 8020 platform to support its broadband services in Nigeria. Ericsson will provide MTN Nigeria with services including installation, integration and commissioning of the new SSR 8020 platform as well as support services.
The SSR will support MTN Nigeria?s 2G, 3G, and Wi-Fi networks and its future upgrades to long term evolution. MTN Nigeria plans to deploy the Evolved Packet Gateway application on SSR 8020 by the end of 2012.
