The Government of Mizoram has conducted a series of strategic meetings aimed at strengthening the telecommunications sector in the state. Among the key areas of focus were the rollout of the “Call Before You Dig” (CBYD) app, faster deployment of 4G Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) in remote areas and enhancing broadband access within the state.
CBYD system is a mobile app-based platform that helps prevent damage to underground utilities by requiring prior alerts before excavation work. The app enables better coordination between telecom operators and local authorities, ensuring smoother infrastructure development with minimal service disruptions.
The meetings also emphasised expediting the installation of 4G BTS which is an essential equipment that enables mobile connectivity, particularly in far-flung and underserved areas of the state. These efforts form part of the national saturation initiative aimed at ensuring every inhabited village receives high-speed 4G coverage.
