Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technology is likely to announce the winners of the tender for Wi-Max broadband operating licences in July 2009. Wi-Max operating licences will be awarded to two operators per zone (there are a total of 15 franchise zones) and bidders will be able to bid for concessions in more than one operating zone. The regulator reports strong interest in the tender with no fewer than 73 telecom companies already confirming their participation in the auction.
