China Telecom has commercially launched its new CDMA-based 3G network. The operator’s evolution data optimised (EVDO) network, for which the infrastructure has been provided by Huawei Technologies, covers 52 cities in China.

Meanwhile, China Unicom is deploying W-CDMA as its 3G platform and China Mobile is rolling out a time division-synchronous CDMA (TD-SCDMA) network.
