Taiwan’s Far EasTone has awarded Motorola a contract to build its Wi-Max network in the city of Taichung. Motorola will deploy its WAP access point base stations, and use its Connectivity Service Network (CSN) Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA)/Home Agent (HA) solution to extend Far EasTone’s existing Wi-Max network and offer access control and billing functions. Work is currently under way and is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2009. Far EasTone plans to launch commercial Wi-Max services by the end of 2009.
