The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) has signed a consortium agreement with industry partners including Lekha Wireless Solutions Private Limited, Signaltron Systems Private Limited, Sooktha Consulting Private Limited, and Resonous Technologies Private Limited for the collaborative development of disaggregated 5G radio access network (RAN) solution.

This agreement is the second of its kind under the ‘C-DOT Collaborative Research Programme 2022 (CCRP-2022),’ where the parties have agreed to work together to build an open radio access network (O-RAN) compatible disaggregated 5G RAN solution capable of operating in the frequency range 1 (FR1) and frequency range 2 (FR2) bands for public and private 5G networks. C-DOT will serve as a business incubator and facilitator, offering funds and infrastructure for testing, interoperability, field trials, and proof of concept (PoC), ensuring the availability of alternative 5G RAN local solutions.

Furthermore, this collaboration will serve as a catalyst for India’s self-sufficiency in the 5G area by bringing more telecom operators into the startup-micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) ecosystem and promoting healthy competition in the market, strengthening Indian intellectual property, and positioning India as the primary worldwide supplier of affordable 5G solutions.
