Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has restored services between its landline telephones and private mobile operators in Punjab.

The services have been restored after the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) issued a new order to the operator.

Prior to this, the operator had disregarded the regulator?s orders on this subject, after which, private mobile operators asked TRAI to intervene once again.

On September 29, 2011, BSNL had disconnected services to Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar, Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL), Reliance Communications (RCOM) and Idea Cellular in Punjab, on grounds that these companies owed it Rs 130 million.

Customers could not make calls to the other?s network in Punjab, Chandigarh and Panchkula in Haryana.

BSNL landline subscribers could not make a call to the private operators? mobile subscribers and vice-versa.

On October 3, 2011, BSNL restored services to RCOM and TTSL, after the Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) stayed BSNL from disconnecting their services.
