Digital Infrastructure Providers Association (DIPA) has written to the government of Tamil Nadu, seeking urgent support during the ongoing heavy rainfall leading to the flood situation impacting key districts including Chennai in Tamil Nadu.

In order to ensure smooth telecom operations and connectivity during the ongoing heavy rainfall and flooded districts in Tamil Nadu, DIPA has requested the state government to allow telecom personnel unrestricted access to telecom sites, ensure availability of diesel for telecom towers and power and provide contact details of dedicated nodal officers from electricity department, DISCOM, Police and Petroleum who can be contacted for any support required for telecom infrastructure issues during the period.

Commenting on the development, T.R. Dua, director-general, DIPA, said, “In order to contain the effect of this situation on telecom services, we seek urgent support and intervention so as to ensure the above points and facilities are taken care of for ensuring uninterrupted telecom operations in the State in this difficult and challenging situation. All our IP’s members are proactive and have taken necessary steps to ensure connectivity 24/7 in the areas which have been affected by the ongoing flood and all the background arrangements like additional DG sets, battery banks, spare parts, stocking of diesel are taken care off.”
