The government of Gujarat has exchanged a letter of intent (LoI) with Starlink to cooperate on providing high-speed satellite-based internet connectivity in remote, border and underserved areas of the state. The LoI was exchanged with Starlink Satellite Communications Private Limited at a ceremony held in Gandhinagar, in the presence of the chief minister and deputy chief minister of Gujarat.

The initiative aims to extend high-speed satellite internet services to regions with limited or inadequate telecom infrastructure. According to the official release, the move forms part of the state’s Digital Connectivity Mission and other strategic connectivity initiatives.

Further, to support execution, a Joint Working Group comprising representatives from the government of Gujarat and Starlink will be constituted to ensure effective implementation of the LoI, the release added.
