According to Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, the government has allocated Rs 11 trillion for infrastructure development in the past year which is a significant increase from the Rs 2 trillion figures spent annually in the past.

Scindia also noted improvements in telecom connectivity with the installation of towers across 10,700 villages. Additionally, 2,45,000-gram panchayats in the country are being connected through the BharatNet project, with 2,12,000 (0.21 million) already connected and the remainder to follow. As of now, an amount of Rs 1.39 trillion has been allocated to BharatNet, a central government initiative aimed at providing broadband connectivity to all village panchayats.
