According to 4G Americas, the global long term evolution (LTE) subscriber base is expected to reach 134 billion this year.

Of this, 57 million subscribers will originate from the US and Canada. Further, by early 2018, the LTE subscriber base is expected to grow to 1 billion.

At the end of 2012, the global LTE subscriber base stood at 68 million. At present, about 172 operators offer LTE services in 70 countries. Globally 250 commercial LTE networks are expected to be rolled by the end-2013. As per 4G Americas’ estimates, 450 LTE networks are expected to be launched globally in the next two years.

Region-wise, in end-2012, 20 operators in Latin America had deployed LTE networks. The LTE subscriber base in North America increased from 38 million in end-2012 to 57 million in May 2013. Latin America accounts for 57 per cent share of the global LTE market.
