Reliance Globalcom is in advance talks with Ciena Communications to purchase optical network gear, say news reports.

The company is planning to use this equipment to ramp up capacity of its global submarine cable network.

Reliance Globalcom plans to upgrade its international subsea cable assets spanning over 73,000 route kilometers and would be selling bandwidth capacity to carriers. The company will expand capacity for its submarine cable network passing through South Asia, Middle-East, North Africa, Europe and the US.

Ciena Communications is likely to provide Reliance Globalcom additional packet and optical networking equipment to help it expand the capacity of its international submarine cable network in multiple terabytes.
