The Supreme Court has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to clarify whether it had opposed the bail requests of five individuals indicted in the 2G spectrum case.

The court bench of Justice G.S. Singhvi and Justice H.L. Dattu asked the agency to clarify its stand after senior counsel Ram Jethmalani, informed the court that the CBI did not oppose the bail requests of the five individuals.

Prior to this, on October 24, 2011, the agency had informed special court judge O.P. Saini that it had no objection to bail being given to the five individuals. Further, the court has reserved its order on their bail applications for November 3, 2011.
