Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom is reportedly mulling over investing in China’s broadband internet and 3G mobile services segments. If any investment is made, it would either be through a joint venture or directly in local Chinese operators. China may open its telecom market to foreign investors ?? a requirement to qualify as a World Trade Organization member. It is also planning to award 3G licences to foreign firms in 2007.
