
ZTE Telecom India, a 100 per cent subsidiary of ZTE Corporation, has partnered with Calyx Telecommunications to launch a series of smartphones and tablets.
The vendor has appointed Calyx Telecommunications as its marketing partner, responsible for distributing the vendors’ products.
ZTE plans to introduce smartphones priced at between Rs 5,799 to Rs 14,999, as well as its range of tablet PCs in India. The vendors’ products will be available in the market by end-October 2013.
Announcing the tie-up, Xu Dejun, chief executive officer, ZTE India, said “Globally, ZTE is the fourth largest handset manufacturer and we are certain to strengthen our position in India, which is a key growth propeller for us, contributing to 10 per cent of our overall revenues.”
Dr. Gaurav Somani, executive director, Calyx Telecommunications, says, “We are broadening our distribution network with ZTE’s smartphone and tablet portfolio initially focusing on five states ie Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. We are targeting 60 cities and towns through 7000 touch points.”
