According to International Data Corporation (IDC), the global tablet shipment witnessed a decline of 5.9 per cent and stood at 47.1 million in the first quarter of 2015.

The tablet market is led by Apple which is followed by Samsung and Lenovo in the second and third position, respectively. Apple commanded a market share of 26.8 per cent and shipped about 12.6 million iPads in the first quarter of 2015. Meanwhile, Samsung and Lenovo commanded a market share of 19.1 per cent and 5.3 per cent share. The other two players in the top five vendor list included Asus and LG with a market share of 3.8 percent and 3.1 per cent each.
