Malaysian operator Maxis Communications has selected Huawei Technologies as the supplier for its next-generation, high speed internet infrastructure. The deal includes the construction and management of a full-service FTTx network using the gigabit-capable passive optical network technology. Huawei will deliver an end-to-end turnkey services package that comprises active and passive equipment, holistic optical distribution networks, network designs and construction management. Huawei will also manage Maxis’s FTTH network for a three-year period. Maxis expects to start offering commercial services over the new infrastructure in Klang Valley shortly, and has begun registration for customers interested in signing up for such services.
