VSNL registers a decrease in its internet subscriber base

VSNL has shown a decrease in its internet subscriber base. The company is reported to have lost 9 per cent of its subscribers in the quarter ended June 2005 and 24 per cent in the quarter ended March 2005. This is despite the fact that the internet sector registered over 20 per cent growth annually. BSNL, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), Sify and Reliance have registered an increase of 9.69 per cent, 9.74 per cent, 4.21 per cent and 15.03 per cent respectively in their subscriber base during the quarter ended June 2005.
