Telekom Malaysia (TM) is interested in forming a strategic partnership with Thailand-based telecom company True Corporation.
TM is looking to acquire up to 49 per cent stake in True in order to contribute to its management and marketing segments and introduce technology transfers to be used for enhancing its mobile services. TM has undertaken negotiations with True and is currently waiting for a response from them. However, according to sources, True is of the view that it does not need a strategic partner. Meanwhile, TM is also considering a venture with Thai state-owned telecom firm TOT Corporation, if the latter is privatised. L
