UAE-based telecom service provider Emirates Telecommunications (Etisalat) has reportedly bid for an integrated fixed and mobile licence in Libya. The company, which has operations in 117 countries, does not have any interest in North Africa and the licence will enable it to gain a foothold in the region. However, Etisalat will face competition from the Turkish mobile service provider Turkcell for acquiring the licence.
