The Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI) has said that it has submitted its 6G vision with the ITU Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) to drive the direction of 6G technologies as part of the vision for IMT-2030.
ITU-R has already initiated work on developing a recommendation on a vision for IMT for 2030 and beyond.
TSDSI has said that it has adopted a two-pronged strategy for its 6G journey. This includes- firstly, to steer research in India to serve the goals and, secondly, to continue engagement with global standard bodies for harmonisation of efforts including ITU WP 5D.
According to TSDSI, there will be a proliferation of network types such as public, private, enterprise/industrial wireless networks, application-specific specialised networks, IoT/sensor networks and they can be based on different radio access technologies.
Noting that accessible and affordable technologies can bridge the digital divide, it submitted future technologies must leverage composable networks and architectures to address issues of cost and affordability and added that spectrum sharing or simultaneous spectrum use technologies can lower the cost of initial spectrum purchase.
