The Supreme Court has issued a notice to BSNL after TRAI filed a petition objecting to the operator charging a higher tariff from subscribers by reducing the pulse rate of calls. BSNL had earlier got a favourable judgement from TDSAT on this issue, upon which TRAI moved the Supreme Court. The apex court has stated that TDSAT’s judgement will lead to BSNL’s consumers paying higher charges due to a reduction in the pulse rate from 180 seconds to 45 seconds for each call within six months of their enrollment under a tariff plan.
