Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, has unveiled Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL)’s new logo and its seven citizen centric services. These initiatives focus on improving security, affordability, and reliability.
One of the key offerings is a spam-blocking solution that automatically filters and blocks phishing attempts and malicious SMSes, enhancing user safety. Additionally, BSNL has rolled out a national wi-fi roaming service for its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) customers, providing high-speed internet access throughout the country at no additional cost.
Further, BSNL has unveiled a pioneering fibre-based intranet TV service (BSNL IFTV), which features over 500 live channels without consuming users’ broadband data allowances. Another significant initiative is a direct-to-device connectivity solution that combines satellite and terrestrial mobile networks, enabling users to send text messages and make UPI payments in areas lacking terrestrial network coverage.
In response to emergency situations, BSNL also plans to offer encrypted communication services for government and relief agencies, utilising drone and balloon systems to extend network coverage during crises. Furthermore, the company has introduced India’s first captive 5G network for coal mines, developed in collaboration with Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) using domestically produced 5G equipment. This network aims to facilitate advanced artificial intelligence and internet of things (IoT) applications in mining operations, including safety analytics and real-time equipment control.
These initiatives were announced by communications minister during the launch event, emphasising BSNL’s commitment to technological innovation and improved customer service.
