Sandeep Kashyap, CEO, Telecom and Distributed Solar, ACME
Sandeep Kashyap has built up over 24 years of experience in the telecom and renewable energy domains. He started his career in 1994 with Bradma of India Limited as sales engineer, where he worked in the industrial automation space. Later, in 2004, he moved to ACME as general manager, sales and marketing, moving up the hierarchy over the years. In 2011, he joined Luminous Teleinfra, where he was responsible for the company’s energy management business and moved to SAR, the Luminous promoter group, in 2012 as CEO for its solar and electric mobility businesses.
He rejoined ACME in February 2017 as CEO, telecom and distributed solar. ACME serves a portfolio of 150,000 towers and provides energy saving retrofit solutions and energy management services to tower companies. “Our biggest strength is providing innovative, cost-effective, energy-efficient, environment-friendly passive infrastructure solutions to tower companies with our pan-Indian presence. Our pan-Indian presence has given us an opportunity to operate in the rooftop solar area,” he says.
Kashyap feels that energy management will emerge as a key area where tower companies will invest heavily in the future. This portends well for ACME as it has expertise in this domain. He, however, notes that currently no major investment is coming in in this space because of the ongoing consolidation. “The growth story in energy management will emerge once the consolidation process is complete.”
Kashyap’s most memorable assignment was “the introduction of power interface units and green shelters by the company in 2004. This was a new concept in India, which enabled operators to reduce their dependence on diesel generators for telecom sites. We got a lot of appreciation for developing these innovative solutions, which witnessed high uptake in the market.”
Kashyap is a graduate in electronics and communication engineering from Shivaji University and has a management degree in marketing and finance from the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad. Commenting on his management style, Kashyap says, “I like to empower people, assign responsibility to them and be accountable for their performance and results.”
Kashyap’s family comprises his wife, who is a physics teacher, and their two sons, who are studying in 11th grade. “I like to travel whenever I am free. Otherwise, I go to the club and play table tennis with my sons,” he says.
