Research in Motion (RIM) has denied handing over encryption keys for its email and messenger service to the government of India, say news reports.
Earlier, it was reported that RIM had agreed to share encryption keys for its corporate email and Blackberry messenger services with the Indian government. Since, 2004 the government has been involved in a standoff with RIM for providing it access to its communication services on Blackberry for security and intelligence purposes.
However, RIM claims that the security of its Blackberry services has not been compromised in the country. Moreover it says that it does not posses encryption keys for its communication services and therefore it is in no position to share the same with the Indian government.
