The prime minister of India is set to inaugurate Kaynes Semicon’s outsourced semiconductor assembly and testing (OSAT) facility in Sanand, Gujarat on March 31, 2026. The project was approved by the union cabinet on September 23, 2024, under the India Semiconductor Mission. With an investment of Rs 33 billion, the facility is expected to further strengthen the semiconductor ecosystem in Sanand.

The prime minister highlighted that the growth of India’s semiconductor sector could mark this decade as a defining phase for the country’s technological advancement.

The start of operations at Kaynes Semicon’s OSAT facility is expected to provide an additional boost to local economic development. OSAT involves packaging and testing chips before they are released into the market. As per estimates, the upcoming facility will have a production capacity of 6 million chips per day.
