According to data by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), India deployed over 9,000 5G base transceiver stations (BTS) across various states and union territories (UT) during March 2024.

The total number of 5G BTS in India surged from 4,25,987 to 4,35,720, marking a significant milestone in country’s journey towards 5G readiness.

Among states, Uttar Pradesh added 1,759 5G BTS, with total count rising from 47,231 to 48,990. Further, Tamil Nadu deployed 1,249 5G BTS, pushing total count to 33,841 from 32,592 and Maharashtra saw an addition of 1,067 5G BTS, bringing the total to 45,283 from 44,216.

Other states, including Karnataka, West Bengal, and Bihar, also contributed to the expansion, underscoring nationwide endeavour towards embracing next-generation network.

At the bottom lied adding Ladakh that added 1 5G BTS, with total deployment reaching 226. Maintaining same count, Andaman and Nicobar Island’s 5G BTS deployment remained at 115 and with no change, total count in UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu remained at 378.
