Micromax has partnered with Taiwan-based semiconductor company MediaTek to launch 4G long term evolution (LTE) smartphones for the Indian market.
As part of the tie-up, Micromax will launch MediaTek?s Helio processor-based smartphones in the country. Micromax has already launched Canvas Fire 4G smartphone which is powered by the MediaTek MT6735 processor. The MT6735 is based on the ARM Cortex-A53 64-bit processor (quad-core) with ARM Mali T720 graphics that supports 4G LTE. This processor has earlier been used in some HTC smartphones and the Meizu MX5 as well.
Further, Micromax is planning to convert all the Canvas series phones to 4G. The company will launch eight 4G devices before November 2015.
