According to Kapil Sibal, Minister for Communications and IT, the government will release the guidelines for the merger and acquisition (M&A) policy governing telecom sector by November 1, 2013. Earlier, the policy was expected to be finalised by October 15, 2013.
The M&A policy is aimed at encouraging consolidation in the telecom sector and encourage operators to migrate to the new unified licencing regime.
