Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is planning to invest up to $2 billion in its data centre business, aiming to expand its capacity fivefold to 150 megawatts (MW) by 2027. Currently, the company operates with approximately 32 MW of capacity across two data centres in Mumbai and Chennai.

According to Seema Ambastha, chief executive, L&T Cloudfiniti, the company has a vast 300-acre land parcel in Chennai, of which 30 acres have been allocated for data centre development. The Chennai facility, which became operational about six months ago, has already leased out 8 MW, with discussions ongoing for the remaining capacity.

Further, L&T plans to expand with new data centres in Mahape, Panvel, and Bengaluru. In Panvel, the company intends to establish a 30 MW facility on a 7-acre plot. Similarly, Mahape in Navi Mumbai and Bengaluru will each see an addition of 30 MW of capacity.
