KDDI, the second largest Japanese operator, has reported that net income for the nine months to end-December 2005 increased by 2.5 per cent over the same period the previous year to Y158 billion ($1.3 billion) compared to Y154.1 billion. Operating revenues for the nine-month period also increased 1.6 per cent year-on-year to Y2.2 trillion. The operator registered 24.69 million subscribers at end-2005, including 6.7 million EV-DO users and 13.83 million 1x customers.
