Lucent Technologies reports decline in orders from both US and overseas

Lucent Technologies has declared that orders in the US and over seas had both declined for the quarter ended December 31, 2005. Year-on-year, US orders were down 7 per cent to $1.3 billion while overseas orders dropped 20 per cent to $704 million.

On a sequential basis, revenues were down 11 per cent in the US and 23 per cent overseas. Lucent reported a net loss of $104 million, against a net profit of $174 million in the corresponding quarter a year ago.
