International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has sought inputs from policymakers, regulators and operators regarding the initiatives taken be them to protect the telecom networks amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier in March 2020, ITU had introduced guidelines for the development and implementation of national emergency telecommunication plans to combat the coronavirus outbreak.

Further, ITU has launched the global network resiliency platform, called REG4COVID, which will help governments and private telcos ensure that the telecom services can be availed by all and that the telecom networks stay resilient to the surge in demands.

In addition, the platform will enable ITU members to share and collate experiences, ongoing initiatives, and policy and regulatory measures taken up by them to ensure uninterrupted connection for the common people.
