Kapil Sibal, Minister of Communications and IT has dismissed Dr Subramaniam Swamy, president, the Janata Party?s allegations that P. Chidambaram, Minister of Home Affairs, played a role in the 2G spectrum issue, say news reports.
Swamy has said that Chidambaram, who was Minister of Finance in 2008, had granted mobile permits at prices fixed in 2001.
Sibal stated, “It is preposterous to suggest that Chidambaram had any role in fixing the entry fee or issuing the letters of intent to new telecom companies.?
Sibal?s comments are in response to a special Central Bureau of Investigation?s (CBI) court agreeing to recall Swamy as a witness in his petition and permitting him to provide further evidence supporting his claim that Chidambaram had a role in the 2G spectrum case.
