
The company plans to set up the facility over the next five years and is contemplating moving most of its production from China to India.
To this end, Intex Technologies has established a new subsidiary, Glo-Tech Enterprises, which will be responsible for managing the manufacturing business of the company. The new entity is being promoted by Narendra Bansal, founder promoter of Intex Technologies and Anand Singhal, the founder chairman of Kandoi Group.
Intex Technologies has already signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with various China-based mobile phone vendors to set up the new facility. It has also signed an MoU with Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation for the same.
The company has indicated that the Rajasthan facility will produce both smartphone and feature phones and will start production of around 2 million handsets a month from December 2015.
At present, Intex Technologies has two manufacturing facilities, one in Jammu and the other unit in Himachal Pradesh. Both the facilities are being used to produce mobile batteries, chargers, multimedia speakers and feature phones.
