The US-based chipmaker Intel is planning tie-up with two more handset makers to develop smartphones for the Indian market.

Currently, the company is present in the Indian mobile chip market through a partnership with mobile handset maker, Lava. Both the companies have together developed mobile handset – Lava Xolo.

Intel is looking at developing smartphones in partnership with mobile handset makers using Intel chips. The company plans to enter into the smartphone market by mid- 2013. The company will launch touch screen smartphones based on the Google?s Android operating system. It will introduce smartphones at a starting price range of Rs 7,000.

In India, Intel competes with chip-makers such as Qualcomm, Samsung and Mediatek.
