According to the union minister of Communications and Development for Northeastern Region, India’s telecom services are now among the top three globally, and continuous efforts are being made to enhance the quality further.
He noted that stricter quality monitoring norms have been implemented at the cell level starting October 1, 2025, replacing the earlier system that assessed service quality only at the circle level. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has enforced these revised standards to ensure a more granular evaluation of service performance.
Further, the minister mentioned that telecom operators have already submitted their first reports under the new norms. Discussions are currently underway to address areas where service quality has not met the prescribed benchmarks.
