The industry seems to be divided over the issue of rollout of 5G in India.

While Reliance Jio has said that it is ready to offer 5G wireless service by the second half of 2021, Airtel has said that it may take anywhere between two to three years for the domestic telecom market to mature enough for 5G services.

According to Jio’s Mukesh Ambani, India requires policy developments for early implementation of 5G services. He said Reliance Jio has built an indigenous 5G solution and it will lead the roll out in India.

On the other hand, Airtel’s Sunil Mittal has reiterated the stance that the country’s 5G ecosystem is underdeveloped and that the cost of spectrum is very high.
