Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has granted a six-month extension, until September 30, 2025, to foreign satellites allowing them to continue providing communication and broadcasting capacity in India without obtaining regulatory authorisation. Originally, these satellites were required to secure clearance from the IN-SPACe by March 31, 2025 to maintain services in the country.

Further, the regulator noted that current lease agreements set to expire before this new deadline may be renewed until September 30, 2025 under the existing process. However, any new non-Indian satellite or any additional capacity from existing satellites in any frequency band will now require IN-SPACe authorisation.
