Government-owned Nepal Telecom (NT) is planning to construct a fibre optic link with China by March 2011. This project will be an extension of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between NT and China Telecom in 2008. The proposed link will interconnect the two operators’ networks at Tatopani and Rasuwa stations on the Nepal-China border. While NT has already developed the necessary infrastructure at the Tatopani station, it is yet to start construction at the Rasuwa station.
